The round stack method of stacking firewood is a popular technique that is easy to do and looks great. Create a base by spreading out three to four rows of treated 2x4s, or pallets. Then build a stack of end pillars on top of the base by placing 3-4 pieces of wood next to each other, and then placing another piece on the opposite side, with larger gaps at each end. Continue building these pillars up to 12 rows, ensuring that there is plenty of space between each pillar for air to move through the pile.
Then use a center stake to hold the stack straight and start adding perpendicular pieces on the outside of the stack, tying them together with string. Repeat this process until you reach the ceiling height of your wall. Then, you can fill in the interior with oddball pieces and those that are too large for the outer rows. It is essential to keep in mind that indoor stacking requires a space that has plenty of light and airflow, as overcrowding an area can result in damp and moldy wood.
